LOOP ROAD TO CLOSE EARLY/INSECTICIDE SPRAY
(LANDER) If you want to take the scenic drive all the way through the Loop Road near Lander, better do it quick.
ACC, a contractor hired through Federal Highways, will begin preparation for a culvert replacement along the Louis Lake Road (Loop Road) on Wednesday September 8, 2010. ACC’s plan is to close the road at Slate Creek, approximately one mile in on the Louis Lake Road from the South Pass end, for up to three weeks to replace the culvert with a bottomless arch culvert.
There will be no bypass and as a result traffic will need to return the way they came in.
Also beginning September 8 through September 30, most Shoshone National Forest campgrounds will be closed for one to three days each to allow workers to spray insecticides on trees and to provide for public safety. Carbaryl will be applied to protect trees from bark beetle attack and to help save the most beautiful trees at these facilities.
Spraying operations will begin on September 8 at the Worthen Meadows complex, and then down the Loop Road to the Louis Lake Resort
