RESERVATION DECLINES ALCHOL BAN

(WIND RIVER RESERVATION)  According to official election results released Wednesday, Eastern Shoshone voters overwhelmingly rejected nearly all proposed additions and amendments to the tribe’s law and order code.

The election took place last Tuesday on the Wind River Indian Reservation.  Official results showed that 353 voters participated in the election.

Among the many changes to tribal law code that were voted down was an alcohol ban on the reservation.  Most changes to the law code that were approved pertained to crimes of violence against women and children.
