Riverton Home Burns Overnight

(Riverton)  The Riverton Fire Department were called to a house fire early this morning on East Monroe.

According to Riverton Fire Chief Matt Lee, a trailer house at 939 East Monroe was reported on fire around 12:30 this morning.  The reporting party said everyone was out of the residence and the home was fully engulfed in flames.  When fire crews showed up on scene, they discovered the two back bedrooms were on fire. 

Lee said firefighters vented the back two bedrooms, then sent in two firefighters into the residence and had the fire out within minutes.    

A neighbor called fire crews back around 4am this morning reporting that the wind had fanned the fire back to life, however Lee said it turned out to be nothing.

Lee said the home and most of its contents were saved.
