Teton Co. board renews push to ban smoking

JACKSON, Wyo. (AP) – Members of the Teton County Board of Health

say they will continue to push for a smoking ban despite a court

ruling against their first attempt.

Board members also said they want to start talking to state

legislators and the Wyoming Health Department about clarifying, and

possibly expanding, the board’s authority.

Last February, state District Court Judge Timothy Day struck

down the board’s attempt at an indoor smoking ban throughout Teton

County. Day said the board exceeded its authority.

The Jackson Hole News & Guide reports the health board decided

against an appeal.

Instead, board members say they will work to draft a new version

of the smoking ban and recommend that the Jackson town council

implement it.
