New information on the accident on South Pass

(LANDER)  A vehicle accident that claimed a life onSouth PassWednesday has been ruled a homicide by the Fremont County Coroner.      The Lander Rural Fire Department was called just after 6pm Wednesday to respond to the scene of a pickup truck roll over at mile post 61 on highway 28.      TheWyominghighway patrol said there were four occupants in the pickup truck, all from Riverton.  They were 18 year old Cindi M. Lockard who was driving, and passengers, 43 year old Jerry L. Ray, 11 month old Jiraiya Dennis, and 40 year old Marcelle L. Wyo. deputy missing after search for girl in river

DOUGLAS, Wyo. (AP) -Wyomingauthorities are searching for a ConverseCountydeputy who disappeared after going into the North PlatteRiverinDouglasto try to help a girl struggling in the water.      Undersheriff Don Schoenleber says Deputy Bryan Gross went into the river at about 5 p.m. Thursday. He entered the river near the DouglasYellowstoneBridge, which joins both sides of the town 50 miles east ofCasper.      Schoenleber says searchers looked for Gross until nightfall. Lander Rural Fire Department to garage fire

(LANDER)  A garage fire yesterday (Thursday) sent the Lander Rural Fire Department a few miles past theShoshoneRoseCasino.      When they arrived, the 2 car garage was completely on fire with 2 vehicles inside.  By the time the fire was under control, about 25% of the home had burned and the garage and it’s contents were destroyed.      Lander Rural Fire Chief David Peevey said the cause of the fire is still under investigation. … Read entire article »

789 closed Friday morning outside Riverton

Cheyenne police promote first woman to sergeant

CHEYENNE,Wyo.(AP) – A Cheyenne police officer is becoming the first woman in the history to the Cheyenne Police Department to be promoted to the rank of sergeant.      The police department plans a ceremony on Aug. 1 to promote Det. Cathleen Trujillo to sergeant. Cheyenne Police Chief Brian Kozak saysTrujillowill supervise a squad of patrol officers.     Trujillostarted with the department in 1994. She has served as a crime scene technician, arson investigator, field training officer and as a detective specializing in person crimes. Burnout possible Friday at Norton Point wildfire

DUBOIS, Wyo. (AP) – Firefighters are preparing to ignite a burnout to prevent a wildfire burning in the Washakie (WASH’-ah-kee) Wilderness from spreading to the south.      Crews plan to ignite the blaze when the main fire gets close enough. Wyoming: No change to proposed wolf zone now

CHEYENNE,Wyo.(AP) -Wyomingofficials say they aren’t taking up a last-minute effort byTetonCountyto prevent wolves from being shot on sight there.      They say they’ve all but reached a deal with the Interior Department in whichWyoming’s wolves would join those inIdahoand Montanain being removed from endangered species protection.      The plan would protect wolves in northwestWyoming, where hunting wolves would require a special permit. Fort Washakie man goes to prison

(FORTWASHAKIE)  AFortWashakieman has been sentenced to prison.      40 year old Jerry Tillman was sentenced by Federal District Court Judge William F. Downes on July 21st for assault resulting in serious bodily injury.  Tillman received 37 months of imprisonment, followed by three years of supervised release, and was ordered to pay over $111,000 in restitution. … Read entire article »

Gun control advocates seek to block state gun laws
