No leads on pipe bomb found near Rawlins

RAWLINS, Wyo. (AP) – Authorities in Carbon County say they have

no leads on how a pipe bomb ended up in a gravel pit near Rawlins.

A resident spotted the device Wednesday evening and the bomb

squad from neighboring Sweetwater County used a robot to deactivate

it.

The bomb was made of PVC pipe. Investigators say it contained an

explosive but they haven’t said what type or how much.

Carbon County undersheriff Mike Morris told the Rawlins Times

that the device had the potential to cause some property

destruction and personal injury.

He said some people use the quarry to run their dogs. There’s

also been some underage parties there.

Anyone with any information about the bomb is asked to contact

the Carbon County sheriff’s office.
