Erno O. Chavez Jr. (Enguh Ahtung Red Ant) obituary

Erno Owen Chavez, Jr. passed away on Saturday, August 20, 2011in Grand Forks, North Dakota, following a lengthy illness. 

Erno Owen Chavez Jr. was born on January 12, 1979, to Estalene A. Guina and Erno Chavez Sr. in Lander, Wyoming.  Mr. Chavez attended schools at Fort Washakie and Flandreau Indian School in South Dakota, where he graduated in 1995. Mr. Chavez met his wife, Jenny White, while attending Flandreau Indian School. They moved to Devil’s Lake, North Dakota, and married on March 21, 2007, where he remained a resident until his death. 

Mr. Chavez is survived by his wife, Jenny Chavez; Step-daughter, Brianna Gayden; Grandmothers Velma Chavez, Zella Guina; Sisters Yolanda and Chris Posey, Chloeanne Guina, Rashelle Nagashoa; Brother, Tadd Chavez; and Step-mother, June Sequints; Aunt  Rita and Floyd Phillips, Doreen Chavez, Davene Guina; Uncles, Dennis and Donna Chavez, Orville and Lynette St. Clair, James and Edna Guina, John, Manfred Guina.  He is also survived by Great-Aunts, Harlene and Earl LeBeau, Violet and Leo LaJeunesse, Bonnie and John Washakie,  Lucille and Frank Foote, Bernadette Oberly, Iva and Tex LeClair. Great-Uncles, Reuben and Marge St. Clair, John and Melody St. Clair, William St. Clair, and Duane Tillman, and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews, also his Family in North Dakota; Cory Jensen, Evan Hill, Dustin Soote, Marthy Thumb, Joe Snell,  Dacia Lamrose, Wanita Jensen, Gail Nash, Jane Lamrose, Kayla Jetty, Elaine Robinson, and Angela Huffman. 

He was preceded in death by Father, Erno O. Chavez Sr;  Mother, Estalene A. Guina; Brother, Brent Guina; Grandfather’s Louis Chavez Sr., John Guina Sr.; Uncles, Louis Chavez Jr., Roderick “Skinner” Guina, Uriah “Quail” Guina; Great-Uncles, Stanford St. Clair, Wallace H. St. Clair; and Great-Aunt, Leota LaJeunesse.

The Funeral Service is at 10:00 am, Friday, September 2, 2011 at the Shoshone Episcopal Mission. An all night visitation preceding the service is being held also at the Shoshone Episcopal Mission. Service through Hudson’s Funeral Home – 332-2221. On-line guest book: www.HudsonsFuneralHome.com.
