Former Wyo. Supreme Court Justice Urbigkit dies

CHEYENNE,Wyo.(AP) – Former Wyoming Supreme Court Chief Justice

Walter C. Urbigkit (UR’-bih-kyte) has died at the age of 83.

     According to Wiederspahn-Radomsky funeral home, Urbigkit died

Monday morning at a hospice center inCheyenne.

     Urbigkit was appointed to the state Supreme Court by Gov. Ed

Herschler in 1985. He served on the court until 1993 and was chief

justice from 1992-1993.

     He was rejected by voters in his judicial retention election.

     He also served in the state Legislature from 1973-1985.

     Urbigkit received his law degree from theUniversityofWyoming.

that Urbigkit was an intense person who worked hard and loved the

law.

     Urbigkit is survived by his wife, Marian, and four children.

     Memorial services will be Friday at First Presbyterian Church in

Cheyenne.
